I hiked up 1 to 1 1/2 miles to try to peek over the ridge to get a view of where the fire was in relation to David and Lee's house. The wind was pretty strong, but I was not directly downwind of the fire so the smoke wasn't too bad. I didn't know exactly how far I was from the fire, but I did know that fires can move pretty damn fast. I can't, so I was a little apprehensive.
